One of the most common uses of Asentria products is to replace existing legacy RTU’s, such as a “Badger” device, to enable the transmission of alarms via a more modern alarm standard such as SNMP. Asentria products have huge flexibility in providing various I/O counts, and can provide alarms in any standard SNMP format, as well as offer paging, SMS, and other more unusual alarm methods.

  • ASCII to SNMP - This was commonly done in the past to convert ASCII text alarms, or other types of records from PBX systems into SNMP messaging.
  • MODBUS to SNMP - This is commonly done to take data from more sophisticated measurement devices like the "3rd Party" AC power monitoring products we provide. The AC power monitor provides sophisticated and accurate monitoring, and provides the data to the Asentria device in a format that we can intepret. MODBUS is common in the SCADA world as well, so many potential sensors can be integrated to an Asentria base device.
  • Scripting to SNMP - Using the internal scripting language available within some of our base units, it is possible for an Asentria device to provide sophisticated or unusual conversions to alarms. We could for instance check multiple values of different types to make a decision within the Asentria unit whether an alarm should be sent.
  • XML to SNMP - Using the internal scripting language available within some of our base units, it is possible for an Asentria device to provide sophisticated gathering of XML values from another device, and make determinations based on that data whether an SNMP trap should be created.
  • HTML to SNMP - Using the internal scripting language available within some of our base units, it is possible for an Asentria device to provide sophisticated gathering of HTML values form another device, and make determinations based on that data whether an SNMP trap should be created.
