Asentria units are capable of being used as a means of gaining terminal access to equipment at a remote location via out-of-band methods. This is typically used in cases where no "in-band" connectivity method is available, or where the intent is to provide a secondary method of accessing a site, should a failure of equipment at the remote site disable the primary in-band method of connectivity.

  • Wireless to Serial - Any Asentria device with a wireless modem and serial port can provide terminal access from the wireless connection to a device connected to the Asentria device's serial port. Certain Asentria devices provide greater security than others.
  • Wireless to Ethernet - Any Asentria device with a wireless modem and ethernet port can provide access as a wireless router onto the remote network. Certain Asentria devices provide greater security than others, and this ability can be disabled as well.
  • PSTN Modem to Serial - Any Asentria device with a PSTN/POTS (phone) modem can provide command line interface access to a remote devices serial port. Certain Asentria devices provider greater security.
  • PSTN Modem to Ethernet -Any Asentria device with a PSTN/POTS (phone) modem can provide web interface access to a remote devices Ethernet port. Certain Asentria devices provider greater security.
  • Ethernet to Serial - Any Asentria device with an ethernet connection can provide remote terminal access to a remote devices serial port. Certain Asentria devices provider greater security.
